What it does
Mural Engine is a dedicated helper that enables dynamic lock screen sync on your Mac. When you initiate a sync from Mural, Engine processes your wallpaper at full quality — with all Lab effects included — and updates your dynamic lock screen to match your desktop.
It only needs to run during the sync. Once the process is complete, you can quit it.
Installation
- Download and unzip. Move Mural Engine.app to your Applications folder.
- Open it. If macOS shows a security prompt, right-click the app and choose Open.
- Mural Engine appears in your menu bar. Open Mural → Dynamic Lock Screen tab and tap Sync — a setup guide will walk you through granting Full Disk Access. Or click the Mural Engine icon in your menu bar and tap Open Settings → to grant access directly.
- Once sync is complete, you can quit Mural Engine. It does not need to stay running.
Why a separate download?
Dynamic lock screen sync requires Full Disk Access — a macOS permission that lets Mural Engine interact with your dynamic lock screen. Distributing Engine as a separate download keeps everything transparent: you always know exactly what's running on your Mac, and you're in full control of when it runs.
